Paul Smith was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico. His education includes a Bachelor of Science in Youth Ministry, a Master of Biblical Studies and a Master of Divinity, all from Abilene Christian University; and a Doctor of Ministry from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California. His doctoral dissertation focused on the role of Confession in the Churches of Christ.
Dr. Smith has served a number of Churches of Christ in Arkansas (Little Rock), Colorado (Monte Vista and Alamosa) and New Mexico (Aztec, Portales, and Belen). He has served as a part-time minister in Texas (Ira) and Oklahoma (Norman). In addition to full and part time ministry to congregations, he as also served as a hospice chaplain. For 10 years he worked as a pilot, first as a flight instructor, and then as a line pilot and company flight instructor for a small company in Albuquerque, NM.
Paul’s passion is in teaching and preaching the gospel. Beyond the study of the Bible, his main academic interest is in the life and theology of Dietrich Bonhoeffer. Paul is an unashamed mountain-goat, and longs to spend his time with his feet in a cold trout stream.
